YAYASAN MUSIK AMADEUS is a Foundation,
dedicated to the development of classical music in Indonesia.
Its activities cover various aspects related to music,
among others education, performing, and audience building
as part of its overall efforts to achieve the foundation's aim
to establish classical music as an integral part of life in Indonesia.

The Foundation was established in 1992 by Grace Sudargo (see biographic notes) who had just
completed her education at the noted Austrian music academy at Graz.
However, to materialize the foundations ideals and objectives to engender widespread
appreciation for classical music, the best material is needed, performed by good quality
performers.
These would have to be shaped first; hence ,
establishment of a school was the first choice of the foundation.Concentration on string
instruments as its major field, the school achieved such impressive progress after only
one year that it was strong enough to actually establish the orchestra (1993)
which is one of the foremost exponents of classical music in Indonesia today: Capella Amadeus.
An added advantage is that it brightens prospects for the future of classical musicians in
Indonesia.
